Dr Claire Marie Thomas
Involvement with SKIP
Claire was a Project Coordinator for the previous SKIP branch SKIP Birmingham during their time with a project in Zambia. She has since been a SKIP Trainer, Health and Safety Lead, Branch Mentor Program Lead, Chair of Board of Trustees and dipped her hand in pretty much every part of SKIP’s work along the way.
Outside of SKIP
Following Claire’s medical school training, she went on to gain a Diploma in Tropical Medicine and Hygiene and to specialise as a General Practitioner. These choices were driven by her passion for developing accessible community-based primary healthcare in resource poor settings, a passion also close to the heart of SKIP’s mission and values. She has worked in many countries, both with SKIP as an undergraduate, as a teacher/trainer of personal and professional development skills and as a qualified doctor.
