SKIP Glasgow run a project in Zomba, Malawi, collaborating with Likhubula Youth Organisation.

About the branch:

SKIP Glasgow, SKIP’s only Scottish branch, was established in 2006. The branch’s original project was based in Lilongwe, the capital of Malawi in south eastern Africa, in collaboration with an orphanage. The branch then moved on to collaborate with a youth organisation in Nancholi (NAYO) situated near Blantyre. An effective withdrawal from NAYO led the branch to move location to Zomba where SKIP Glasgow have been in partnership with Likhubula Youth Organisation (LIYO) since 2018.

The branch is very focused on the sustainability of interventions and developing them to be specifically tailored to address the needs of the community. This is why the branch moves around a variety of different areas within Malawi once it is deemed that the collaborating organisation is self-sufficient. This Summer SKIP Glasgow will be sending out more volunteers to work with LIYO to further develop projects by reflecting on what has been learnt from previous years. SKIP Glasgow recruit volunteers from September to November and then host a variety of different training nights and weekends to prepare volunteers as best as possible. To find out more and track the branch’s journey to Summer 2020 follow them on the social media accounts below. If you have any questions or queries feel free to email SKIP Glasgow.
