Personal Travel Insurance Advice

We strongly advise that all travelling SKIP volunteers purchase comprehensive travel insurance as soon as they book flights. Before purchasing travel insurance, please read the policy documents carefully, ensuring that they cover you for the entire length of your trip and every activity you intend to do whilst away. There is great variability between travel insurance policies but most provide emergency medical cover, reimbursement for lost and stolen possessions, cover for cancellation of trip, and evacuation in emergencies such as civil unrest and outbreaks of disease. We also strongly advise that you purchase travel insurance from a UK based company, as the UK will then be your county of residence for evacuation purposes. If in Europe, remember to take an EHIC (European Health Insurance Card) as well as travel insurance. For more information, please look at the FCO website.
