My vision is for SKIP to be compliant with, and meet, charity regulations in order to ensure the continued financial and legal protection of the charity. Also for SKIP to have a well-defined financial structure with clear parameters of responsibility, and for all members of SKIP to have a sufficient understanding of SKIP’s financial operations.

My mission is to drive the continued development of SKIP’s financial structure and operations. I will strive to maintain a supportive treasury network that has clear parameters of responsibility and accountability. Additionally, I will seek to ensure that treasury within SKIP is accessible to all members in order for members to be able to fulfil their roles effectively, whilst minimising risk to the organisation.

In order to achieve this, I will review the current treasury network and financial operations; ensuring that I utilise the institutional memory of previous SKIP treasurers. I will also ensure that all members of SKIP receive beneficial and sufficient treasury training. Finally, I will guarantee that financial deadlines and regulations set by the Charity Commission and OSCR are met.

I believe in the importance of promoting the development of all of SKIP’s members whilst upholding key values of integrity and transparency.

I first became involved with SKIP with the intention of boosting my CV and exploring a new country … what I couldn’t have anticipated was to fall in love with SKIP so much! 6 years on and I have been fortunate enough to volunteer in Belarus; assist with the development of a new project in Zambia; hold 2 roles on the National Committee; train at National Conferences; and sit on the Board of Trustees. SKIP has provided me with numerous transferrable skills and held the door open to opportunities I would never have known existed. I feel extremely fortunate to have stumbled across the SKIP Cardiff stand at a Fresher’s Fayre all those years ago, and wouldn’t change it for the world.

One of the things I am most excited about this year is developing my skills and knowledge within treasury, whilst continuing to work alongside some of the most inspiring people I know.

Outside of SKIP I work as a senior musculoskeletal physiotherapist in Bristol. I am also a member of the UKIETR and am beginning my MSc Public Health this year. Outside of work, I enjoy the usual socialising and keeping active and am always on the lookout for new challenges.
